Alpha-arbutin 5%: A natural lightening agent known to reduce melanin production, which is responsible for pigmentation and age spots. A study by Choi et al (2002) showed that alpha-arbutin reduced pigmentation by 43.5%. The Avush Serum contains a powerful formulation with 5% alpha-arbutin to achieve maximum results.
Licorice root extract: This natural extract is known for its lightening properties. It contains glabridin, a compound that inhibits the activity of tyrosinase, a key enzyme in melanin production.
Skin Moon™: Our Serum contains the SkinMoon formula, consisting of the natural ingredients blood orange, olive leaf, caper shrub and black rice. In clinical skin lightening studies, Skin Moon™ was shown to have a significantly stronger lightening effect compared to hydroquinone and kojic acid (Bionap).
Sand lily: Sand lily can help reduce the formation and breakdown of melanin. Clinical studies have shown it to be effective in reducing pigmentation spots. Compared to other active ingredients such as kojic acid and arbutin, sand lily shows significantly better efficacy in the treatment of pigmentation spots (CODIF).
Vitamin C and Niacinamide: Vitamin C is known for its brightening and anti-aging properties. It works by inhibiting melanin production and lightening the skin from within (Pullar et. al., 2017). The results of the Bissett et al. (2004) study showed a significant improvement in skin pigmentation with niacinamide. Melanin transfer was reduced by 35 to 68 percent.

Dark spots as well as age spots are the result of excessive melanin production in the skin. Melanin is the pigment that gives our skin its colour. When certain skin cells, called melanocytes, produce too much of this pigment, spots can appear on the skin.
